There are of course a number of people within(!) the gay community that share interests or behaviors, but those are sub groups and not representative for the whole community. Gay people as a whole have absolutely nothing in common except for loving the same gender on one way or another. However, cause of the way of how the term is used, it kind of makes it feel like you have to enjoy it if you are gay. Cause in the case of things like Drag Race, it is rightfully referred to as gay culture. What people use that term as, however, is what being gay either is supposed to mean or what gays have in common yada yada. What it actually means is, pretty much anything made by gay people. Cause there is a huge discripancy of what it means and what people use it as. Secondly, I absolutely dispise the concept of "gay culture". But don't try to justify it with a weird gender norm. So if you dislike something, that's fine.

Just do what you like, that doesn't define your gender in any way. I have female friends who will never wear a skirt or a dress in their life and enjoy bowling or tinkering on cars and male friends who like to wear dresses and like baking pies. That starts with clothing and ends with interests or behavior. And quite frankly, both sides are wrong in this.įirst things first, I just think that gender standards are total bs.

People who are not into it are quick to judge it as being stereotypical and "too feminine" while those who do often call it "gay culture".

Exactly, it has nothing to do with that and it kinda goes both ways.
